Advent Resources for Families

We have now entered one of the busiest times of the year.

The Christmas season is a time that’s filled with cookie swaps, shopping lists, and parties with family and friends. In the midst of the hustle and bustle, it can be easy to lose sight of the reason we’re celebrating. Many of us are looking for meaningful ways to talk to our children about the real reason for Christmas– the birth of Jesus.

Starting December 3, many Christians around the world will begin the celebration of Advent. Advent is a time of year when we remember God’s faithfulness through the birth of Jesus, as well as anticipate and celebrate the hope we have that comes through Christ’s promised return.

Celebrating Advent as a family is a great way to connect the dots for our children. If you’re interested in starting a new tradition this year (or perhaps this has been a part of your annual rhythm for awhile), the Children’s Ministries Team has some ideas:

Christmas Music for Kids

Spotify Playlist for Kids

Does your family love good music? We have created a Spotify Kids Christmas playlist for your family’s enjoyment! Music is a powerful tool for shaping our hearts and minds.

Advent Conspiracy Kids

We would love for you to participate in Advent Conspiracy Kids. There are several ways you can participate. Choose one or choose many– whatever will help your family put Christ at the center this season.

Advent Chains

Advent Chains

Each year the CM team puts together printable Advent chains. We’ve included Bible passages that point to prophesies about Jesus, the return of Jesus, and Jesus’ birth. Print them out (or pick them up in the Children’s Ministries area of your site), assemble them together and follow the activities each day.

Our hope is that these tools will refocus your family on Christ this Christmas. It’s a special time for us to anticipate the hope that comes through Christ, the Savior King of the world, both in his first coming and in His promised return.
